• I got nothin’.

It’s quarter to 3. I’m off at 5. And I fee like I’ve already put in 3 days of a 5 day week. This entry was supposed to just be a link dump, but I can has no links for to dump.

    ****************

At least the bossfolks here haven’t collectively decided to fire my ass as of yet though. And after showing up an hour late this morning thanks largely to the occasional inadequacy of public transportation, they had perfectly valid reason to. Until tomorrow at least.

    *****************

Okay, I lied. But you can’t be an asshole with an opinion without linking to that article. It’s right up there with the cab driver I had this morning adding the cost of him filling up to my bill when he dropped me off this morning. Of course had he actually made that particular mistake he’d be in the hospital right now but y’know.

    *****************

This was supposed to kill time. It failed. Epicly so. I wanna go home.

  • Mondays should so be illegal.

I’m here, after much miracle of transport. Our lovely bus system has apparently lost track of time, so my getting here ended up including a taxi. Rather the pricy way to do it, but I still got here an hour earlier than I would have otherwise. And an hour later than I was supposed to be here. But in a world where they’re waiting for a reason to fire someone, that still ain’t that bad. Now, I try to survive today. Could be interesting to say the least. I’ve been falling behind most of the morning; explains the lack of my usual morning update, but methinks I’ve managed to catch up now. I should only be a mile and a half behind now for the rest of the week. But, before I left for the weekend I did predict the week would run me over. I just didn’t think it’d start immediately at 7:00 this morning. Oops.

PS: Dear life. No curve balls for a couple days, kthx.

  • I are here.

Only got in about 20 minutes to 11 or so. Surprisingly, the weekend did not involve someone contemplating the possibility of pounding someone else’s face to a fine paste. Not a whole lot was really done though… visited with the grandparents and certain relatives, took mom out for breakfast for mommy’s day, and just generally forgot I was employed for a couple days. Oh, yeah, and finally tossed tax crap in the mail. The CRA can sort it out themselves and call me for a change. And now, sorting out email, having a real quick read over the flist and wondering exactly how much longer I’ll be staying awake tonight. Maybe if I don’t bother going to sleep until insane late I can sorta delay the start of the week. That’s how it works, isn’t it?

PS: almadefortitude, remind me at some point later on. I owe you a picture. I have said picture.

  • And gone.

As of about… half an hour at the earliest, an hour and a half at the latest, from now, I shall no longer be home. Well, ’til Sunday-ish. Already I’m crossing my fingers drama holds off until I get back, but y’know. I’ve also officially become rather un-IM-able. Meaning, yes, you can IM me. However, since I will not be home and my IM will remain up on this computer, you will end up being ignored. Cope. There’s always email and LJ. And if I really want to hear from you and you think what you have to say is worth the long distance bill, you’ve already got my phone number. And now, James does the 30-second suitcase pack.

Random PS: And because my ride hasn’t come yet, and such. Um, wow? Whole new meaning to redneck, right there. Example: husband’s name is Jim Bob. ‘Nuff said? I think so.

  • I have reached a compromize with procrastination.

It only took until about now, but laundry is finally in the machine. Now I only have the rest of my to do list to actually get through. Well… 2 out of 6 ain’t terrible. I mean, it’s not 0.

  • A little overstating the obvious with a side order of possible common sense? Possibly…

Of course, I could be quite wrong. Drugs, teens, pot are a dangerous mix: report”> – You be the judge. I really don’t care. Like I told someone a while back, I have no problem learning about/reading about/watching the goings on of the drug industry, be it pot, or whatever. Will I get involved with it? Probably not. Will I twist your arm until you decide not to get involved with it? Also, probably not. As a slight aside, though… can we have some links to this supposed report and its evidence, someone? I like CTV’s articles, but sadly they’re lacking in supporting evidence is slightly on the side of le sigh.

  • Job updateage. Because I promised.

Got the phone call from miss hiring lady at about 8:20, so killed a good 15 minutes talking to her. Turns out they’re hiring for the end of May at the moment which, okay, understandable. but if I leave then, I lose out on one hell of a severence package. They don’t know what they’ll need come July at the moment, but she said they’d keep my resume on file for about 90 days and either I’ll call her or she’ll call me after a couple weeks or so and see where things go from there. Apparently they already have at least one visually impaired person working there, so she seemed reasonably sure there’d be a minimal amount of actual arangements to be made before the place was ready to be considered workable for me. Which is always a good thing. I know when I started at Dell the major hangup we had was waiting on approval for the screenreader, but if all that’s already been handled then I’m already in good shape with that company. I like it when things work out.

Apparently, they *really* are interested though, because she seemed almost anxious to get me in for an interview. As in, if it could have been workable I’d be heading there this afternoon. I was almost tempted to go in anyway, even if I couldn’t *really* start until some point in July. Stupid lack of transportation and not knowing where the office actually is. But at least we know they’ve definitely got their eye on me, and if something does come up during a time when I’m actually available, I can pretty much be guaranteed an interview, if nothing else. The really amusing part about all of this? They were the first people I fired an application off to. Which means hopefully I’ll get a few more phone calls in the next couple weeks. But if not, it only takes one offer of a job to end up working somewhere. And I just might be staring at one.

  • Because I have crap to do and will probably forget half of it.

And for that reason, this is purely for my benefit. Skip at will. But if you read and get nothing out of it, you were warned. I don’t believe in friends only unless I have to. And I don’t.

what I do have to do at some point today though is:

    • (done) laundry
    • (done) pack up crapola for teh weekend
    • attempt to minimize the housework that needs doing when I get back
    • make a last attempt to beat an answer out of tax people
    • (done) make and receive employment related phone calls (yay paycheck!)
    • (done!) get the hell outa here.

Some of that list probably won’t get done. I’ll live. For the rest of it, ’tis necessary and therefore will get done if it kills me. And I’ve been told if the good die young I’ll live ’til I’m 150, so… draw thine own conclusions. I got crap to do.

  • In which James pwns. Again.

We are considering you for our Customer Service Associate position.  We would like to invite you to visit our website in order to review the position.  If you are interested in the Customer Service Associate position, please call me as soon as possible at (613) 907-5319.  I will be available between the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm.

I say again, I. am. awesome.

  • Because nothing’s free, don’t ya know.

Some people just deserve the brainless award. A girl at a Tim Hortons gave a free timbit to a toddler to stop them from throwing a fit in the store, and was promptly tossed for it. Um, customer service, anyone? She was, naturally, re-hired at a different location, but… blurg. If I lived in London, I’d be doing my research on exactly which store it was she was fired from and promptly advertizing anywhere else. Yay for a company that actually gives a damn about its employees. But… methinks said company should probably give a damn about firing some of its managers. Or maybe I’m just being too logical. Y’know, assuming good customer service isn’t a direct violation of policies. Kinda reminds me of some of the policies we had when I was in Dell’s software support department. Will probably find something amusing about that when I’m no longer working here.
