• Another engagement, another likely wedding.

Which means another attempt to sneak off some time away from whatever job I happen to be doing at the time, in amongst everything else I need time off for (see: various local events me and the usual gang will either make it to or die trying). Awesomeness. And unlike my sister-in-law, who I’d still not oppose the idea of having moved to, say, germany, the girl my cousin’s marrying is made of win. Definitely one family wedding I’ll drop everything to attend. If more of the women in my family were like her, or at least less like they are at the moment, there would be craploads less drama in just about every phone call. The exceptions have already been identified, and have seperated themselves from said family by the same hour and a half distance I have. In other familial news, there is no other familial news. And that’s a freaking first.

  • From someone’s IM screenname.

You smoke pot, you eat, you get fat. You drink, you throw up, you get skinny. That’s just physics.

I guess that’s why most of the people I know who were into one in highschool usually had at least a little to do with the other. I always knew there was some kind of logic behind that. Twisted logic, but I never claimed to be normal.

  • Another good idea, bad idea.

Good idea: calling tech support when you can’t get online and lack the ability to correct the problem yourself.
Bad idea: calling tech support when you can’t get online and lack the ability to read the part in the paperwork that says to contact a local provider for internet service (I got that call twice yesterday).
    The end.

  • Now all I need’s an actual demo.

this courtesy silly-singer. The Mac voice demonstration is actually fairly well done… kinda sounds like some of the speech options available in JAWS for Windows, the screenreader I use on this machine and the one at work. Now if I could find a demo of it actually in use, and not just reading something in a text file, I might be convinced to go throw some money down on a Mac. Hey, I’ve been looking for an excuse to fire Windows. Sue me.

  • Happy birthday, Edna!

Oldest known woman will turn 115 on Saturday. If turning 110 and older is enough to make a person famous, I hope I end up living at least as long as her. Go Edna go. I’d have a beer for ya but I haven’t quite finished having all of them for me yet.

  • Depressingly slow, and it’s not even noon.

I’m averaging a call an hour over here, and I’ve been here for 3. It generally tapers off come about the afternoon or so. staying awake/undistracted until shift’s end could prove challenging. Perhaps I’ll use my free time to, uh, I dunno… throw emails at certain people who may be lible to get all uppity about not hearing from me. Or maybe I’ll just catnap. Yeah that sounds good.

  • Yeah, about that.

Sleep is not happening. Originally not by choice but now, definitely by choice. Ah well, Saturday tomorrow is. I can sleep in if necessary. And sleep plenty more when I’m dead. ‘Tis off to do something semi-productive. Shock, awe, surprise, and all that crap.

  • I am not bilingual. Stop sending me bilingual job offers.

Guess I aught not to complain, since for like a month they weren’t making job offers–try firing people left and right. but I have not, and don’t plan to, have anything to do with French on a conversational/professional level. Like I told someone in a conversation over the weekend, some days I can barely wrap my head around English and that’s the only language I know. Maybe I should have thatconversation with our HR folks…

  • Blarg.

I should seriously not be tired. Yes, I’ve been up since 4:30 or roughly thereabouts this morning. Yes, I’ve been doing nothing but sitting on my ass taking calls today. Hence… why I should not be tired. Considering passing out when I get home. Of course, this is me we’re talking about so the likelihood of such a thing happening is about none, but at least I’m considering it. Some (almadefortitude) would call it an improvement. Me? I’d call it something to think about to kill time until my next phone call. Or break. Or other such distraction. They should let me go home early. Won’t, but should.

  • Reason number 9545 why Windows vista is the suck.

An update Microsoft released to allow vista to actually run properly (note: says nothing about it actually *recognizing*) on a system that has more than 3 GB of RAM… requires that you have less than 3 GB of RAM to install said update, otherwise it falls over and dies. Oh, the sweet, sweet irony. Microsoft, you fail at life.
